Vision2020, as Susan Palmer has pointed out, is an excellent format
for an on-going virtual town meeting. Individuals may toss their ideas
very quickly and easily back and forth with other subscribers. As a means
of sharing a massive amount of hard copy, it is less effective.
Though not massive, copies of the (now former) Moscow Citizens
Swimming Pool Committee report are available for review at the following
locations:
City Hall
Moscow Public Library
Moscow Chamber of Commerce Cffice,411 S Main
Parks and Recreation Office (Eggan Youth Center) 1515 East D
Street. Additionally, copies of the 13-page summary portion are available
upon request. Please call 883-7085. Following is a list of additional data
collected, assembled and/or generated by the pool committee. This
information is available for perusal and/or study by any and all interested
citizens or groups:
Pool Facilities files with information and telephone notes from 40
other aquatic facilities the committee researched; Notebooks of previous
surveys, vision2020 postings, questionaire responses, news articles and
media events; Artwork and letters from 300 Moscow school children; Videos
about familiy recreation centers, leisure pools, and interactive play
equipment; and a Directory of several hundred names and preferences of
community members who have responded to our questions and surveys since
October 1997.
The above information is well organized and stored in my studio.
Please call me at 882-7211 to make an appointment. My tea kettle is nearly
always at the ready.
If you would like to contact any other members of the former
committee, their names and phone numbers follow:

As a next to final comment, while the pool committee was "split" in
its preference for an outdoor or a "hybrid" pool when a straw poll was
taken on 1/14/98. this was before all members had seen and had a chance to
evaluate all the pool data collected, and to review and analyze the
responses to our public outreach and questioning. On 2/11/98, when that
data had been consolidated, read, and discussed by all members, and after a
final meeting with the pool consultant, a vote of all members present was
taken once. It was unanimous, and it was in support of the concept
presented to the City Council on 3/9/98. One committee member was out of
state, but had previously given a proxy vote. That was me.

Finally, on behalf of all the members of the former Moscow Citizens
Swimming Pool Committee, I would like to thank all the many, many people
who have shown an interest in the planning phase of the pool project.
