visionary thinking and the pool

It is certainly important for all of us to look forward. To dream.
To have a vision of what could be. There is no one who has spoken over
this link or in public that does not have a view that is important. For
example, I applaud Tom's vision of swimming in the new pool during the
infrequent warm days of May. However, I cannot envision our Parks and Rec.
Dept. cleaning the pool, filling it with water, chlorinating it, hiring
lifeguards, and then turning on the water heaters on the off chance there
might be a warm day in May.
I also applaud the link between the new pool and the Chipman Trail. I
would certainly be more agreeable to the idea of building a new pool from
private donations rather than tax dollars. I would also support user fees
that would cover the cost of building and maintaining a new pool.
I also support the idea of democratic debate and process. I find it
somewhat irritating that those of us who oppose the current pool idea are
being constantly told to stop whining and pull together to support the
"committee's decision" and pass the bond. It's as if once the committee
made the reccomendation, opposition is not to be allowed.
