For what it's worth, my knowledge of the people Mary Jane Gaughan refers to
(if they're who I think they are) is completely contrary to what she says.
The legal system is complex, and individuals on the receiving end of tough
cases may have the most difficulty viewing it objectively. As Kenton
suggests, Mary and her friend should talk to an outside party who
understands the system.
