The Chipman Palouse Trail from Moscow to Pullman is a great example of
community effort and persistent individual and collective hard work to
realize a vision. Even after fifteen years, project leaders are calling it
Phase I, and the vision of a trail all the way to Albion lives on as Phase
II. Saturday is the day to celebrate the end of Phase I! Come at noon, if
you're interested, to Side Road, a point on the trail across from Champion
Electric (2 miles from Moscow, 6 miles from Pullman). Diverse users and
non-users simply interested in community building have worked hard to make
this happen. We could probably learn a lot from the process as we plan our
pool and multi-use recreational site in Northeast Moscow. Don't worry, I am
NOT suggesting we draw out current discussions 15 years. But we have fewer
obstacles to overcome and we don't have to rip up steel rails, thank goodness.

See you Saturday at noon -- you can either use the trail by walking,
running, biking, or skating, or follow the signs on Highway 270 for parking
your car.
