Sixth St.; wrong-way bikers

There is a very good reason for no painted bike lane on the north side of
Sixth St. between the SUB and the Power Plant: there is an excellent bike
path separated from the road along that section. Separating bikes and cars
physically is the ideal solution, altho not always possible. It's nicely
done in this case and I always feel safer when I can leave the painted lane
on Sixth Street and get onto that path.

Re wrong-way riding: while cycling I encounter the occasional biker
riding stupidly, just as I dodge the occasional car driver doing something
dumb. Traffic tickets for errant cyclists are in order, but I don't think
it's something to get particularly worked up about; careless people will
always be part of life.

As a cyclist bad bikers don't overly worry me: a bike collision usually
means just scrapes. Car drivers are a far greater danger to cyclists
because a collision with one can easily cripple or kil..
