As part of their course in educational technology, a group of 8 WSU
students created an on-line Palouse area newspaper. Nils Peterson,
director of WSU College of Education tech center, taught that course.
The on-line news source, called the Palouse NewsNet, is divided
into sections, including comics, sports, national/world news, weather,
local current events, kid's corner, science and health, and letters to
the editor.
The address is--
http://www.educ.wsu.edu/PNN/
With the completion of the semester, the students have finished
construction of the site. However, many of the sections will continue to
directly link to information sources that are always current.
Up-to-the-minute weather, comics, sports, and news wil continue to be
available on the NewsNet.
His students were practicing making a newspaper, which many
teachers do in their classrooms, Peterson said.
"Our students here in the teacher preparation program are
learning about Internet authoring and Internet resources for use in their
own classrooms--the classrooms of the future," Peterson said.
Those who are interested in this electronic newspaper for the
Palouse, or who wish to comment on its continuation in some form, should
contact Peterson by email.
