MOSCOW—Senior High School students at the Renaissance Public Charter
School are planning the first annual service-learning summit. Students
have invited community organizations and leaders together to
participate in the event Wednesday, Nov. 20, 8:30 a.m.-noon at the
University Best Western in Moscow.

Students are hoping to gain knowledge of their community from area
leaders and to identify potential service projects they could
accomplish. It will also give the community leaders the chance to talk
with young people in Moscow. Renaissance Public Charter School students
have also invited student representatives from other Moscow schools,
both public and private.

The theme of this year’s event is “Celebrating Service.” While the main
goal is to gather information for service projects, students would also
like to honor three important groups in the community: police officers,
firefighters and emergency medical technicians. Moscow’s Kiwanis, Lions
and Rotary clubs have all offered their support of the service-learning
summit.

The Renaissance Public Charter School is a K-12 public school which was
established in Moscow in September 1999. The school provides an
educational environment celebrating the arts and sciences and active
learning, inspired by the achievements of such great minds as Aristotle
and da Vinci but reflecting the best contemporary educational research.
Our mission is the empowerment of students to be life-long learners and
leaders in the 21st Century. For more information on the school, please
