Suppose a business puts up a sign that says "No homophobic language allowed."
What then? You can write a book opposing homosexuality. Can you read it outloud?
On a different front, suppose someone has a case of homophobia in the classic
sense, that is, an irrational fear of homosexuals or homosexuality. Can a
business deny them service? Can they refuse other phobics as well?
People with phobias should be treated with compassion and pity. They've got a
serious problem that needs treatment, and simply shunning them from society is
cruel.
And yet, it seems folks are pushing for a hostile "homophobes not welcome here"
environment here on the palouse.
