On Saturday, at the refurbished Gladdish
Auditorium, the 31st season for the Washington-Idaho Symphony will
commence. At 8:00 the concert will begin with a concert celebrating
"Romancing the Sound." The program includes:
Finlandia (Sibelius),
Adagio for Strings (Barber),
Brandenbug Concerto No. 4
(Bach), and end with the
Symphony No. 8 by Dvorak.
The same program will be performed the next day at
3:00 at the new Clarkston High School Auditorium.
The Sunday afternoon concert is a particular
favorite of ours because this is such a wonderful way to spend a Sunday
afternoon -- a leisurely drive through the Palouse, gorgeous lighting, marvelous
LIVE orchestra music, and the return through near-sunset in the most beautiful
countryside imaginable.
Call me if you are interesed in season tickets -- a
bargain, to be sure (882-4899).
This is an important part of Palouse cultural
life. Support the smphony! And in
particular, BRING YOUR CHILDREN, who will provide the future
for classical music.
