Re: Alright Moscow...Your Dark Little Secret Is Back

somehow I think hate crimes (murders) are worse than a murder of someone who has done you wrong for example... but then "hate crimes" travel across many paths. For example, wouldn't murdering a woman after raping her be considered a hate crime. This man wouldn't have known her and killed her only because he hates women. Murder seems senseless in any case but at LEAST a bit understandable when you murder your neighbor because he stole your ..... something. It's late, I'm rambling. I do know my back sure bristled when this murder of Wil was automatically deemed a hate crime before there is anything that says it is or isn't. I am sure the police are looking at all angles. This may be a fairly conservative Idaho town but the MAJORITY would never want to hurt or see minorities of any kind hurt. Not agreeing with a lifestyle or religion or way you drive your car or comb or dye your hair does not translate into automatic wanting a person of that group dead.

Thank you for such a clearly-stated summary of the disagreeable notion of "Hate crime" legislation. To quibble over the motives for murder or violence seems foolish. Some person has had their life taken from them, should that not be horrific enough to warrant punishment, regardless of their sexual preference, taste in music, skin color, or religion?

However, as was stated in an episode of "South Park", "If you're going to hurt someone, you damn well better make sure they're the same color as you are!"
