Whether or not trends continue may be a result of logistics. Where will the
space for more private schooling come from? Logos expanded some years ago,
and I haven't heard any recent rumors to suggest they were planning any more
expansion. St. Mary's has plans for expansion, and may be waiting to
finalize finances. New private schools will need some place to call home,
so we may see and end to the drop in MSD enrollment until there are more
spaces available in private schools.
Home schooled children unofficially, and unscientifically, numbered between
400 and 500 in the early nineties, when Idaho became a non-regulated home
school state.
Either way, increased state aid to MSD could number in the millions if the
students in the community were attending MSD. Shouldn't MSD look for that
solution first?
