KUOI will begin its fall series of events showcasing music, film, and art from local and national artists this week with two concerts in the Borah Theater in the UI SUB.
On Tuesday, September 3rd at 7 PM, there will be a performance by Mike Walker, a Seattle-area musician best known for his work in the Americana-based rock ensemble Pedro the Lion. Walker performs with a full band and plays folk-influenced pop along the lines of Nick Drake or the better moments of Buffalo Tom. Also performing will be Moscow group Echo Ave., in their first performance of the fall. Admittance is $4 at the door.
On Saturday, September 7th, also at 7 PM, Mates of State (Lawrence, Kansas), Dear Nora, (San Francisco), Pellet Gun, and Mine 37 (Both of Eugene) will be performing. Mates of State are a husband-wife synth pop duo on Polyvinyl Records. Dear Nora is the stage name of solo acoustic artist Katy Davidson, who has performed in Moscow several times over the past few years. Admittance is $6 at the door.
Due to time and equipment constraints no films are scheduled to be shown with these events, but we are still looking for submissions of work to be shown throughout the fall. Email bennett@sub.uidaho.edu for more info on these events or how to submit your work or perform.
Thanks,
Bennett Yankey
