MAC Band seeks musicians

Visionaries,
The Moscow Arts Commission summer band is about to begin another season
of music and fun. Gary Gemberling, band director at Lewiston High
School, will again direct this group, which plays weekly during June and
the first part of July.

All ages and abilities are welcome -- take it from a fair-weather French
horn player like me. And you don't need to commit to the entire
season. People come and go as their schedules allow, so the composition
of the band varies from week to week.

The band's repertoire comes from the classics, Broadway, Hollywood and
Tin Pan Alley. There's at least one Sousa march in every program.

The first rehearsal is next Tuesday, June 4 at 7 p.m. in Room 216 of the
Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho. The first
concert will be two days later on Thursday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m. at East
City Park.

Rehearsals will be on subsequent Tuesdays at 7 p.m.: June 11, 18 and 25,
and July 2 and 9. Performances will be June 13, 20, 27, July 3 and July
11 at 6:30 p.m., plus Saturday, June 29 at 9:30 a.m. at Friendship
Square.

Even if you haven't played your horn in years, dust it off and come to
the rehearsal. (No audition is required.) We always seem to need
clarinets and saxophones, but all instruments are welcome. You'll have
a great time being part of Moscow tradition.
