> March 14 - 12:45 p.m. - Colfax High School
> March 14 - 7:00 p.m. - Neill Public Library
> In this lively lecture/demonstration, the importance of the brass band in shaping the music culture in America is explored and how the brass band tradition was adopted and adapted by cultures all over the world. The interaction between music and culture is examined, as well as the symbol of power that the brass band represents and how different cultures react to this strong symbolism. Examples of the brass band tradition in other parts of the world are provided, including the brass band music of Ghana, Surinam, Indonesia and Bulgaria.
Bring the family. This will be a fun program!
