A different way of looking at government taxes and
government spending would be this:

How would you like your elected representatives to operate?
To consider what services the public desires and then plan
(oops, that's a dirty word in parts of Idaho) to provide
those services to the extent they can be afforded, and do so
on a steady, continuing basis--

Or

Create an unnecessary crisis every few years to provide an
excuse to cut back on government, even on those portions of
government the great majority of the public supports?

I'd choose option one. The governor and the majority of our
legislators have chosen option two.

Idaho's present fiscal crisis is unnecessary, but it came
about because it served the purposes of some in and some out
of government, and because an element of the public seems to
be suckerable over and over and over again.
