Why didn't you stay and fight for that? Using a formula seems like a very
logical way to approach this favoritism problem. How does the committee
decide now who will and who will not participate? Is there a "rule"?

Tex - the favoritism I speak of is a "closed" Venue that has no following
and
hence will bring a deficit to the committee on that location. It did last
year. Favoritism is paying a band too much money to play to a small
audience.
Example: Toucans were paid an exorbitant amount of money and only brought
little money to the event. Meaning small audience. This in my book is a
loss.
The Prospector is "not allowed" to participate in Mardi Gras according to a
member of the committee. What he stated to us was poor turn out and a
problem
with the ticket sales. The Prospector was busier than The Black Rhino and
The
Moose last year. Therefore no - not any establishment that wants to
participate, can.
Yes - I have voiced my opinion to the committee for years that each
participating Venue in the Mardi Gras event should have a representative on
the committee and attend meetings regularly. Or - they shouldn't be allowed
to participate in the Mardi Gras event. Then "no" favoritism could ever take
place.
Again, I devised a formula for the committee based on occupancy and how busy
the locations were for the previous year. That in my mind would dictate the
amount of money spent for a Venue on the current year. Then, each Venue
would
have a worth. Hence, no favoritism. Since the board will not tell
you...........I will...........this is the vote that was tossed out and why
Shelley "stormed" out of the meeting as put forth by Jerry Schutz.
