Re: Moscow's right wing conspiracy?

Steve, I think you missed the point. Why would the "Religious Right" want to join the
school board in Moscow? Much more effective strategy (and one that seems to be working
here now) is to bash the public schools, cut the funding for the public schools, create
an alternative school system with high-achieving students, and then point to the
failure of the public system.
Steve, check it out: the alternative Religious Right school system in Moscow is
well-established and well-funded and attracting families and kids to this town. Logos
School has spawned the New St. Andrews College: voila, a complete K-16 alternative
system where you never have to get your pure mind dirtied with thoughts of evolution,
etc.
Vera White pointed this out in her column a few weeks ago. Jim Fisher said it well
in today's Tribune (12/13). I think it's true. I very clearly recall a conversation
with Doug Wilson outside a gay dance at the Community Center a half-dozen years ago.
He told me that he and his fellow believers were going to remake Moscow and make sure
there were no more gay dances in this town.
So, if the public school system is trashed, what else can we expect? What about
the safety of gay residents? What about restrictions on sharing information about
contraception?
