ELECTION PRESS RELEASE



PRESS RELEASE

Absentee ballots will be available beginning TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2001, at 
the CITY CLERK'S OFFICE at City Hall, 206 East Third Street, 3rd Floor, 
Room 304, for those voters who will not be able to go to the polls November 
6, 2001.

Individuals unable to personally come to City Hall to get an absentee 
ballot may call the CITY CLERK'S OFFICE, 883-7015, and request a ballot.  A 
written request must be received from the voter before a ballot can be 
obtained.

An individual is eligible to vote who is at least 18 years old on election 
day; is a citizen of the United States; has resided in Idaho and in the 
City for 30 days preceding the election; and is not under any legal 
disqualification to vote.

Individuals not yet registered to vote may do so election day by appearing 
in person at the polling place, completing a registration card, and 
providing proof of residence.  Proof of residence may include

1.	Idaho driver's license or Idaho identification card issued through the 
Department of  Transportation
2.	Any document which contains a valid address in the city limits of 
Moscow, together with a picture identification card; or
3.	Current valid student identification card from a post-secondary 
education institution in Idaho accompanied by a current student fee 
statement that contains the student's valid address in the precinct 
together with a picture identification card.

The ballot counting for the City Election November 6, 2001, will be held at 
the Latah County Auditor's Office.  Counting will begin as soon as possible 
after the ballots arrive at the Courthouse and are checked by the Counting 
Board.  Results will be made available as each precinct is counted.

The Auditor's Office at the Courthouse will be an extension of the City of 
Moscow City Clerk's Office after 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2001. 
 Anyone having questions regarding the City election AFTER 5:00 p.m. 
Election Day may call 882-8580.  Election questions prior to election day 
should be addressed to 883-7015.
