RE: mayor's pay raise

True you could get rid of your elected officials. The problem is that due to
the ridiculous way we have elected to run our city the elected officials do
very little. Bringing in new elected officials will do nothing to change
things because this town is not run by elected officials! You should look at
who controls the information... this is the person who controls how the city
is run. By changing the mix and content of the information the elected
officials can, and are, easily steered to making certain decisions. This in
fact is the main reason why the project that would allow public to easily
access information through the web was killed. The excuse was money but the
city ended up spending more on far less. Control... my dear friends is the
key... and I guarantee you that its control will not change by electing new
officials! As long as we have a monopoly on the control of information in
the city your votes are irrelevant as are the efforts of the good people who
are serving on the city council most of whom I have great respect for.

Well, next election cycle we could vote them all out. Isn't that how
it works?

What's missing is the process of democracy.
