In fairness to the Daily News...

The Daily News has been run through the wringer on this board.  I, myself,
have contributed  by questioning the motives of littering the Palouse with
the weakly (sic) advertisement spread out in the shrubs and bushes.  My
point in doing so was to acknowledge the only reason for that particular
publication is monetary gain, pure and simple.  Not that monetary gain is
wrong; I have a difficult time seeing it hidden behind alledged altruistic
goals, i.e. 'we want to provide news and coupons to those who can't afford
it'. 

While I often disagree with the Daily News and sometimes have a tatrum of
disgust, I still must admit, as far as newspapers go, it is a good quality
journal.  Having read daily locals from Maine to Hawaii, and points in
between, I have found the Daily News to be in the upper end of quality.  For
that matter, the one greatest failing, at least in my mind, is it does not
agree with my point of view nearly enough.  Then again, if it agreed with me
then I would not read it as I would learn nothing.

Although I may not always be overjoyed with the Daily News, I certainly
apprecitate it over the alternative of no news.
