more on teens
Dear Visionaries,
I want to update you on the Teen Empowerment Seminar that I
wrote about over the weekend. We had an informational meeting last night and now
have five teens from our area signed up for the seminar and at least five more
who plan to register soon. It's so exciting to see teens saying, "I want to know
some other ways of looking at my life and some other ways of making choices."
This morning I met with the Moscow Ministerial Association, an
interfaith organization, to ask them to pass on the word to their youth
ministers and teens. I was overwhelmed when they wrote out a check then and
there to help sponsor a teen. When a teen is told that people they don't even
know have paid their way to attend something like this, that teen starts to
feel part of the larger community and starts to think about the responsibility
he or she has to live up to the expectations expressed by that support.
That alone is powerful. This interfaith association represents all of us
who belong to a spiritual community, so I am sending my thanks to
you.
For any of you who want to read the article in Sunday's
Spokesman-Review about the three boys from Moscow who attended the seminar last
summer, here is the link:
