Not enough time for a recount!
Visionaries,
CNN reports:
In a setback for the Gore campaign, officials in
Florida's Miami-Dade County abruptly called off a
hand recount of presidential ballots, saying they
can't complete it by Sunday's deadline. Instead,
the three-member board voted unanimously to use
their original returns compiled immediately after
the November 7 election. At that time, Gore won
328,702 and Bush collected 289,456 votes. The
action reverses a decision made earlier in the day
when the panel said it would limit the county
recount to 10,750 "undervotes" -- ballots on
which no vote was registered by counting
machines. Now, no additional recounts will be
added.

Wow,
It's a heck of a read, but I'd recommend everyone take an hour to review
the Florida Supreme Court decision.
If you don't have an hour, my summary is that elections must reflect the
will and intent of the people, and not be decided by any slavish adherence
to procedure. This principle may only be violated in extreme
circumstances, which do not currently obtain in Florida in this morass that
we call the presidential election.
