chipman trail in winter

Visionaries,

I really like snow, and I really enjoy having the Chipman Trail. However, except on those rare occasions when the snow on the Chipman Trail is suitable for cross country skiing, snow on the trail inhibits my enjoyment of the trail.

A few years ago I was in Calgary where they have a lovely running path along the river there. I was told that it was maintained during their long winter by volunteers. I think a snow plow on the front of a mountain bike was mentioned.

Unless this year is going to be different from last year when no "controlling legal authority" seemed to be responsible for snow removal, is there interest in some kind of volunteer effort? Some of my thoughts:

1. Donation of a used snow blower or small tractor with snow plow.
2. Donations collected to buy a used snow blower or small tractor with snow plow.
3. Volunteers who would commit to clearing specific segments of the trail using the aforementioned equipment, or their own snow blowers, snow shovels, snow-eating rats, or whatever.

We wouldn't even have to clear the whole trail--just a swath wide enough for bicycles, feet, and strollers. Ordinarily, if we can get down to the black asphalt, the sun will do the rest.

Anyone interested in continuing to brainstorm on this?
