Subject: Senior Center/Friendship Hall need your support
Visionaries:
The Moscow City Council will hold a public hearing next Monday, Nov. 6,
at 7:30 p.m. on an application for a Community Development Block Grant
to support refurbishment of the 1912 Center for two important community
functions:
* A full-time senior citizen center (not just a twice-weekly meal site)
* Friendship Hall, a center for adults with developmental disabilities
If the grant is approved, the east end of the ground floor (adjacent to
the "Great Room") will be renovated and the entire building will be made
ADA accessible through installation of ramps and an elevator. The local
matching money will come from private contributions -- no city money
will be used.
Your support for the city's application (and more broadly, for
Friendship Hall and the Senior Center) is needed. We need both letters
to the council and oral statements at the public hearing in the council
chamber. If you need more information about Friendship Hall and the
services it will provide, please contact Nancy Johansen
(johansen@moscow.com). If you're interested in knowing more about the
senior center, please contact Duane Letourneau (dlet@uidaho.edu) Fact
sheets for both projects are available from Tom Hudson's office in the
Avalon House at First and Washington.
I hope to see you at City Hall on Monday evening.
