song birds

Visionaries:
Has anyone noticed that there seem to be fewer birds around Moscow this
summer?  Or is it just my imagination?

Before I moved to Colorado, I remember waking to lots of pre-dawn
chirping, but lately have heard only isolated squeaks and peeps.  There
was a big flock of crows in my neighborhood (near Russell School) last
month; perhaps they drove away all the robins, sparrows and other small
birds.  Or maybe there are other factors at work: drought, shortage of
food, more hawks or other predators.

Perhaps someone from the Palouse Audubon Society cab shed some light on
this topic.  Thanks!
