Star Gazing at the Phillips Farm
Hello Visionaries,
This Friday, lst September from 8:30 to 10 p.m., the County's Parks and
Recreation Department will host an evening of star gazing with Dale, Jacob
and Michelle Pernula at the Phillips Farm, about five (5) miles north of
Moscow. This will be the fourth of evening programs hosted by the County
since it acquired the lease of the farm from the City of Moscow for
recreational and educational programs for children, youth and families. The
160-acre farm is a gift to children by the late Virgil Phillips. It
includes forests and fields, wetlands, a small stream, a one-acre fenced
garden and remnants of an old farmstead. It is a lovely natural setting
that offers opportunities for one and all to connect or reconnect with the
natural environment. You can take walks or runs on a three-mile trail loop
that includes a hilltop affording awesome sunset views; you can garden,
wildlife watch; do nice things for the environment while learning about
it.; and other activites the setting inspires you to do.
At another time, 23rd September, from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M., at the the Phillips
Farm, the County will host an Old-time Crafts Day--- a morning and
afternoon of programs including demonstrations on candlemaking, cider
pressing, and a variety of crafts. There will also be games, races and
other family fun activities. Folk musicians will serenade lunchers from
noon to 2 P.M. Come one and all, meet people, share in the learning and
fun, and become acquainted with a beautiful natural resource.
Call Robin Jenkinson at 882-8580 or Andy Grant at 883-5709 for more
information.
