PALOUSE AQUIFER: ARE WE DEPLETING OUR GROUNDWATER RESOURCE? Public Meeting
Tuesday, May 2, 7:30PM at Moscow Community Center.

Representatives from the  Palouse Basin Aquifer Committee will provide an
overview of the aquifer which  provides the sole source of drinking water
for Moscow, Pullman, and much of  Latah and Whitman counties  what we know
about its size and structure,  the history of its utilization, and past and
present efforts to achieve  stabilization. Even though region-wide pumping
hasnt increased for nearly  a decade, water levels in area wells continue
to decline at the historic rate of  12-18" per year. What does this mean
for residential water use? How will  the declining water table affect
surface channels and their ecosystems? What  will it mean if we are
violating Idahos statute against mining  groundwater? What additional
measures can we take to protect our groundwater for  future generations?
Come prepared to learn and to ask questions.
