Health expert to speak May 1



Visionaries:
Chris Stream of the UI Political Science Department has asked me to post
the following information.  I hope that some of you can attend this
presentation, which may give a national perspective on some of our local
health care issues.

Dr. Charles Barrilleaux, a professor of political science at Florida
State University, will discuss the topic of Health Care Reform 2000 in
an open forum on Monday, May 1 at the University of Idaho Law School
Courtroom at 3:00 pm.  Barilleaux will discuss national health care
reform efforts as well as state Medicaid programs.
 Barrilleaux directs the FSU Survey Research Laboratory and is a
research associate in the DeVoe Moore Center for the Study of Economics
and Government and the Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Policy.  He
received his PhD from the State University of New York at Binghamton in
1985 and did post-doctoral study as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
Fellow at the Center for Health Care Finance and Management at Johns
Hopkins University in 1986-87.
Barrilleaux's research focuses on issues of public policy and American
state politics.  In health care, his principal interests focus on issues
of health care finance, access to care, and Medicaid politics and
policy.  He is the author of numerous articles and chapters and has
served as a health policy consultant for a variety of government and
private organizations.
