library: new director, party planned

       The Board of Trustees of the Latah County Library District is
pleased to announce the selection of Mary Guptill as the new Library 
District Administrator.  She comes to the position after 7 years as the 
Director of Jasper Public Library and Administrator of Dubois County 
Contractual Library Services in Jasper, Indiana.  She also worked at 
libraries affiliated with Lexington Theological Seminary in Kentucky, with 
the National Institute of Mental Health, and with universities in Wisconsin 
and Oklahoma. 
Her Ph.D. is in Library and Information Science from Indiana University.  Ms 
Guptill was selected after a national search by
a 9-member committee consisting of libary staff, trustees, and community 
members representing the county-wide system.
        Mary is passionate about the role of public libraries in rural
communities, and said she was "very impressed with the staff, and the level 
and  quality of service in Latah County."  She will arrive in
early June.
        Ms Guptill will replace retiring District Administrator Lori
Keenan.  A reception honoring Ms Keenan will be held Friday, April 28 from 
2-5:30p.m. at the Moscow Public Library.  The public is invited.
