Thank you Sen. Schroeder for this valuable info. -- it shows responsible
representation. At the same time, ALL our school districts and their
children need to be informed about not only the $15 million shortfall in
the State's original funding proposals for them, but also the new kinds
of 'penalties' in terms of either bonded indebtedness or interest-bearing
state loans that districts would encumber if they want to bring their
schools and programs up to par with existing regulations and educational
standards. (the latter now under revision, of course).
These kinds of political decisions truly reflect where the
Legislature's majority values lie and how much they care for the future
of the Gem State, which is its children. There is no other resource today
than our human resources -- land and capital are ancillary to what kinds
of intelligence, skills and attitudes are brought to bear on those
factors. Idaho has or will have spoken by its votes on these measures in
the coming days. Thanks for your altertness.
NOTE TO DAILY NEWS: Will you report out the Senator's analysis of where
educational budget $ is?
