RE: attack on Chief of Police Weaver

Dear NOT Mr. Egan!

this is what I was talking about when I posted my earlier remark warning you
about false accusations. the individuals involved in this post may seem
fragmented at times but are all trying to improve our community and world.
we tend to check things out and have resources between us to verify things.
I believe I speak for the whole group when I say to you... GO TO HELL.

one thing I tend to get violent about is injustice... your post was clearly
unjust. you accused a great man... a true servant of the people with
falsehood. you used another good man's name to do it. as I see it you have
slandered two good men and you better pray you and I never cross paths.

absolutely not your brother,

Shahab...

Subject: attack on Chief of Police Weaver

On Saturday, Feb 19, a post was sent from a "Timothy Egan" to the Moscow
Vision 2020 list attacking Moscow Police Chief Dan Weaver under the guise of
asking for supporting information for various claims of illegal activities
on Weaver's part.

"Timothy Egan" claimed to be a writer researching a new book.

Adding credence to the claims in the post was the fact that a well-known
writer named Timothy Egan (he is a New York Times correspondent stationed in
Seattle) has written several books, including one about small-town police
corruption in this region.

So, I contacted the Timothy Egan who works for the NY Times. I asked if he
sent the post.

The answer is NO. He was disgusted that someone was using his name for such
purposes, and thought the entire situation was aptly described by a series
of angry barnyard words not printable here.

What I am assuming happened is that the Vision2020 list has been misused by
someone to pursue a vendetta against Moscow's chief of police. Hiding
behind a plausible identity, someone used this list to attack Weaver's
integrity.

Who is the "Timothy Egan" who got a Yahoo account in that name, then
subscribed to the Vision2020 list to post that message? Are they too
cowardly to identify themselves?
