I offer the following comments, with no knowledge of the accuracy of
accusations made here, and being someone whom I like to think awaits more
information before accusing or defending anything posted here.
(Unfortunately, our local paper cannot be relied upon to provide the
community with accuracy)
I do not feel a moderator is needed. This list has done well at self
moderation when discussions get "out of hand". I always have a delete
button which I use with occasional glee.
I am finding a comparison of the current accusations against Dan Weaver with
the earlier accusations against the Alturas Park somewhat interesting. If
Mr. Egan had refrained from mentioning a particular individual, would the
discussion have gone the way the Alturas Park discussions went? Why are
accusations against "city government" much more palatable than those against
individuals?
I am neither supportive nor defensive in regards to the accusations against
Dan Weaver. Either it was a despicable flaming of a good police officer, or
there will surface those various facts which will support the accusations
(as did happen with the Alturas Park). If indeed the county prosecutor has
opened an investigation then sooner or later the LMT or Spokesman Review
will report on it.
To attempt to moderate this list would remove from the participants a timely
sense of community events as well as the occasional glee we all get from
just deleting an annoying individual.
