Visionaries:
I call to your attention tonight's meeting of the City Council and
Moscow Planning & Zoning Commission. This is an annual exercise in
setting goals and priorities -- an opportunity for our elected council
members and appointed planning comissioners to do some long-term
planning, rather than reactive zoning.
The city's new sign ordinance was one of the goals for 1999 that was
achieved, thanks to lots of work by a subcommittee of the planning
commission.
You'll see that the last item on the agenda is the opportunity for the
public to pose additional items for consideration. So if you have
suggestions or concerns about the way that Moscow is growing or
developing, this is your chance to speak up.
Tonight's meeting also will be an excellent opportunity to see new
council members Jack Hill and Mike Thomason in action, as well as match
faces to the names of the planning commissioners, who usually toil in
obscurity. (And thanks to all of them for their commitment and hard
work.)
You'll note that the meeting is scheduled to adjourn at 9 p.m., unlike
many P&Z meetings, so it won't be a major commitment of your time. I
hope to see at least a few V2020 subscribers there tonight.
