Salmon hearings and preparatory workshops

 MOMENT OF TRUTH FOR SNAKE RIVER SALMON AND STEELHEAD

 This Febuary and March, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the National
 Marine Fisheries Service are holding public hearings and taking written
 comments to decide the fate of the endangered Snake Basin salmon and the
 four Lower Snake River dams.

 There will be BUS TRANSPORTATION (at no cost to passengers) from Moscow and
 Pullman to and from the 6 p.m. PUBLIC HEARING in LEWISTON IDAHO ON FEBRUARY
 10.  There is also an "open house" beginning at 12:00 noon.

 YOUR VOICE IS NEEDED, NOW.

 WORKSHOPS

 These workshops will inform and prepare you to testify at the public
 hearing.

 Moscow Idaho Workshop:
 Wednesday, January 26, 2000
 Moscow Community Center (on corner of Third and Washington)
 7:30 to 9:30 PM

 Pullman Washington Workshop:
 Thursday, January 27, 2000
 Neill Public Library, (by the road to Colfax, across from Washington Mutual)
 7 to 9 PM

 Thursday, February 3, 2000
 Lewis Clark State College, Student Union, Rm 143
 7 PM

 At these workshops we will:

 -       Explain the salmon recovery options being proposed and highlight
 key findings;

 -       Provide background materials on the science of salmon recovery
 and the economics of bypassing dams;

 -       Explain the process for the hearings and provide tips for giving
 public testimony and submitting written comments to the Clinton
 Administration;

 -       Have a special guest speaker, drinks and snacks, and some fun as
 well!
