I read in yesterdays'
Lewiston Tribune that Tom Trail was interested in proposing legislation to
legalize the growing of industrial hemp. I'm sure most Visionaries assume
that such a staunch conservative as myself would be vehemently opposed to
legalizing any variation of the "Devil
Weed".
But lo and behold, I am for the legalizing of
industrial hemp.
To me it is a matter of
common sense, hemp has over a hundred practical uses and could give our
farmers another crop with a positive economic outlook. Hemp has such a low
THC content that you'd have to smoke about 150' of rope to get a buzz. And
if you would resort to that then you have way more serious problems than
marijuana use.
I don't know about what kind
of growing climate it requires, but if it could help out our farmers and our
local economy, then I say go for it and rise above the ridiculous hyperbole
about its being a relative of pot. My only concern is being grouped
together with people like Woody Harrelson, ooohhh.
