I want to share a response I got to my earlier posting because it points
to one source of relevant information. It was a private communication,
so I assume responsibility for posting it here.

Just saw this on the list, and thought I'd encourage you to read the
executive summary of the Quorum study, which is on Pullman Memorial's
Web site. I believe the url is pullmanhospital.org. Most of the
discussion I have seen of this issue since the hasty action by
Gritman's board has taken place in ignorance of what the study says.
(Cathy Rouyer's letter to the Daily News supporting Gritman, for
example, was admittedly based only on newpaper stories and a
conversation with Liz Molina.)
I can understand why the supporters of
that action would want that to be the case, the study being as
unequivocal as it is. But I think the worst aspect of this is that
public debate was cut off shortly after the study's recommendations
appeared. I do not believe that was an accident.
