Re: Mountain View Road

Tina and V2020,

I asked Dale Pernula (Community Development Director, City of
Moscow) about the "work" you are observing along Mtn. View.
Although he's not directly responsible, he believes the work is
utility related.

I believe the utility improvements along Mtn. View are scheduled to
be completed this year, but it will be several more years before we
have bike lanes, sidewalks, and other improvements.

The voters of Moscow (in their wisdom?) spoke in 1996 and
rejected a levy that would have funded Mtn. View improvements as
a one-time major project, so now we're left with the consequences--
i.e., the City Council has and will continue to piecemeal the project
along in phases as the city's budget allows.

Let's hope that your daughter, other school children, and adults
alike use care and caution when walking, riding, and driving on
Mtn. View, and we do not repeat the tragedy of last winter before
the improvements are finished.
