Cats

My daughter (the cat lady) is horrified at the recent cat mutilations. 
However, she is an advocate of the position that cats that are companion
animals should be kept indoors at all times.  Not only do cats that are
allowed to roam fall prey to sickos, they are equally vulnerable to
death and injury by cars, disease, predatory animals, and other cats.
