LuJan,
Interesting proposition. What would be different than what we have been doing up til now?

I have not posted to this group yet (I am new to the list) as I have been
watching and gleaning. Let me introduce myself. I am the publisher of the
LatahEagle. We've been publishing just a year now. We did buy the Kendrick
Gazette and merged it with the Eagle giving us a rich history through the
Gazette. Our intent is to cover Latah County news focusing on the "good"
news rather than the bad. We try hard to not go out of our way to
sensationalize anything that is negative but only to report the bare facts.
We are doing a very good job, in my opinion, in many of the small towns in
Latah County but have been sidestepping Moscow because of lack of personnel
to do a decent job there. With a network of people such as yourself,
however, the reporting can be done by residents there sending us the info
and us reworking and publishing. It is a "community newspaper" concept used
everywhere but Moscow has never really had a community newspaper so the
concept is not known or used there. The towns that are used to having a
community paper handle their job well (such as Kendrick and Juliaetta and
Potlatch - Troy is coming but it has been many years since they had a paper
of their own - gosh, probably about 20 years).
My question to you all is whether or not this group could serve in that
capacity or even if this concept would ever catch on there? I plan to cover
Moscow the best I can anyway and when the funds are available to hire a full
time person with the job of "Moscow"...
