Bill, your piece is eloquent to the point. Why  not prepare this, with 
perhaps a little more detail and background, for the Daily-News? What is 
this newspaper contributing to community education about our future? The 
public needs the information and it would, no doubt, stimulate and arouse 
people to what is happening to this region. Some may say, "It had to come 
eventually". But that's NOT the case! The people ultimately do govern, 
but only as they decide to participate. What are the "positive" 
trade-offs for families and children and retiree-age people in return for 
what will probably happen?  All our environmental agencies and supporters 
need to "sound off" also. When president's Hoover and Smith held their 
meeting in Pullman last month, they more or less "gave their blessing" to 
economic development. Did they consult with the communities, and if so, 
with whom?  It's time, if not already too late, for both communties to 
express their uncensored views.  W. Ken Medlin
