After I left the University of Idaho Women's Center in October,
several people inquired about when this position would be
advertised. Here it is.

Job Vacancy Announcement
Director of the Women's Center
The University of Idaho is seeking candidates for the Director of the
Women’s Center. The director will report to the Dean of Students within
the
Division of Student Affairs.
Responsibilities

Provide overall administration of the Women's Center by:
increasing the awareness of sexual assault issues, gender equity issues,
and other women’s issues;
overseeing the development and implementation of sexual assault prevention
education;
overseeing the development and implementation of educational programming;
directing student leaders in developing and implementing peer education on
campus;
promoting positive public relations;
providing training, supervision and evaluation of staff; writing grants
and
seeking additional funding;
managing and overseeing programming budgets;
writing quarterly and annual grant reports.

Serve as a resource to the campus and community by:
providing professional consultation and presentations on sexual assault
awareness, sex-based and gender differences and inequities, and customized
programs and workshops for students, faculty, staff and the community at
large;
coordinating referrals and services for victims of sexual assault and
domestic violence;
acting as a resource for reporting sexual assault and domestic violence
crimes, and other related issues;
maintaining confidential records;
coordinating with law enforcement and other related agencies;
overseeing acquisition and maintenance of library collection (books and
periodicals);
maintaining current resources on various topics.

Promote awareness of Women’s Center events and activities by:
overseeing the writing of news releases, designing posters, flyers, and
other forms of advertising, and composing, designing and publishing the
Women’s Center newsletter.

Represent the Women’s Center by:
serving on campus committees regarding women’s issues;
attending national, regional, and state professional conferences;
maintaining ongoing nationwide networking;
and serving as liaison to link campus and area women’s organizations.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in field with academic emphasis in counseling,
psychology, gender issues or women’s studies;
computer operation and software programs knowledge;
budget and supervision experience;
teaching or educational programming and research experience;
demonstrated knowledge of gender equity issues.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred;
familiar with women’s issues in a higher education setting;
experience with Student Services on a university campus;
experience providing crisis intervention services.

Position
This is a 10-month (August – May) full-time position with an annual salary
of $27,000 plus benefits.
