Re: gas prices
I'm quite familiar with what you say, as I used to live in Michigan.
That state produces only about 10% of its consumer needs, the other 90%
coming from Louisiana-Texas-Oklahoma oil producers (I think there's also
one refinery near Finlay, OH, owned by the Marathon Oil Co.). So,
trucking gasoline about 1200 miles or so to Michigan must cost a buck or
two, as it does to southern Idaho and to the tri-cities area, where gas
sells for 15-20 cents less than here, but not so cheap as in Michigan.
Yet, gas pumps in Moscow-Pullman don't seem to know that fact! It's like
cows crossing onto a posted "NO TRESPASSING" zone -- the poor cows can't
read, say the farmers. Well, I guess pumps can't read either! Where do we
go from here? One visionary advocates going to the attorneys general and
to media investigative reporters.Another suggests a possible co-op
approach. Whatta ya think, pilgrims? Who really speaks for the consumer
when business practices appear to be very unfair? It's your money, maybe
it's your call.
