Re: Opt form of co govt: correction

All three county commissioners voted to put the county government issue on
the ballot this November. Those of us who presented the report to the
Commissioners made it clear that we felt this was SOLELY a vote on whether
the people should have a chance to decide this issue. It was not
presented as an issue of whether you favor or oppose the plan. I respect
Loreca
for voting to give the people a choice, despite her doubts about the
substance of the proposed plan.

You can compare the behavior of our Commissioners, who voted to send this
to the people, with the behavior of the Kootenai County Commissioners who
had a similar study commission report (proposing a similar plan), and
refused to place the plan on the ballot. (I guess they wanted people to
vote for row offices, but didn't trust the electorate enough to let them
vote on whether they actually wanted to do so. . . .)
