letters to the Daily News

I recently spoke with Mary Stone at the Daily News (882-5561, ext.232).  
She handles the letters to the editor.

The policy for posting messages that would appear on the 2020 list and 
also appear as letters to the editor has now changed.

As originally established by Mark Trahant, the policy was that anyone 
who wanted to have their posting on the 2020 list also appear as a 
letter to the editor only had to include the Daily News letters email 
address (letters@moscow.com) as a CC:.  Your email address was 
considered sufficient identification for the letter.

However, several people accidently responded to 2020 postings that 
included the letters CC: and found their responses in the Daily News.  
To avoid that problem, the Daily News now requires that all letters to 
the editor that arrive electronically must include the author's full 
name, address and phone (the address and phone will not be published of 
course).  Mary Stone may call to verify that the letter was meant for 
publication.

So, you can still post a message to the 2020 list and CC: the Daily News 
letters, but you must remember to add your full name, address and phone.
