RE: Tucson, AR and Orange Co, CA

The idea of civic-minded group or individual purchasing the developments
rights to property that needs to stay open/green space is not a new
concept or one that only Easterners understand.

The Nature Conservancy and a host of others have done this nationwide
(and in Latah County--at Idler's Rest, just north of Moscow).

Also, there is a local conservancy organization which has arranged
several such "deals" that have kept key properties from development.
Katrina Berman's land off Styner Avenue is now part of the Paradise
Creek linear park because of the Palouse Land Trust.

For more info on the Palouse Land Trust, contact John Norton, Moscow
attorney 882-5169. I'm sure they could use help and encouragement.
