Does anyone else perceive a flaw in this logic, or is this simply a
standard non-sequitur?
While I have a deep and abiding respect for history and historical places,
i cannot stretch quite far enough to convince myself the old HS is
anything more than another old construction which has long outlived it
usefulness.
The lasting contribution of any academic edifice resides in the thoughts
and deeds of those who passed through its portals, and went beyond. Let
us also go beyond, and let the land evolve into something useful.
I consider the McConnell Mansion to be a worthy addition to our town.
Every elementary school child should gain a respect for the town's
heritage, and MM serves that purpose quite well.
The old Post Office seems a little less vital, though it has served some
worthwhile purposes since its restoration.
I have not yet seen nor heard any suggestion concerning the Whitworth
Bldg. which would elevate it above a massive money sinkhole.
