1) Highway 95 Bill---Sen. Riggs felt he didn't have enough votes in the
Senate to
pass the bill so it has now been amended to put on the fall ballot
as a
citizen's advisory. We all have mixed feelings about this.
2) Good Sam Bill--this passed out of the Senate Health and Welfare
Committee
by a 9-0 vote, and will go on to the Senate Floor for a vote this
week.
3) HB 741 Recycling Bill--This bill passed the House by a 46-22 margin
and
goes on to the Senate. The average American used about 750
pounds
of paper a year. California lawyers use over 2,000 pounds on a
per capital
basis.
4) HB 658--Emergency Services Account--sets up a fund for purchasing
56 new ambulance for rural districts. This will be financed
through
increasing the cost of a new driver's license by $4.00.
5) Head Start--no funding was provided this year.
6) House supports pared back financing for new subsidized medical care
for children of Idaho's working poor. The bill now goes to the
House.
