Just a few legislative updates today.
1. HB 612--This bill passed the house 42-26--the law if passed
by the Senate and signed by the Governor provides that 65%
of the fines and forfeitures remitted for violations of fish and game
laws shall go to the Fish and Game Fund. It provides that up to
$100,000 per year may be used for local shooting ranges and for
hunter and archery education programs. Rep. Miller and I both
voted for the bill.
2. HJH9--Called the State Affairs Admissions Bill--this passed by
64-6 vote. The intent is to provide that proceeds from from the
sale of school lands may be deposited into an earnings reserve fund
and distributed in support of the public schools in Idaho and
require that leases of school lands secure the maximum long
term financial return. It is anticipated that through a more effective
management plan that earnings can be increased.
