Dear Editor:

First I would like to thank the Daily News and Nina Boswell for the nice
article about the Friends of the Moscow Library. But there are a couple of
points of clarification I would like to make. Our membership is almost
300 and growing, not 50. There has probably always been a Friends group
since the beginning of the library. Certainly the Friends were highly
instrumental in creating matching funds for the new addition to the library
in 1983. As the new president, I certainly didn't "revive" the Friends,
I'm merely trying to expand the program and to create more fun activities
for the members. I'm trying to keep the FUN in FUND raising. For instance,
we just had a very successful Valentine's Day dinner at the library
featuring Ron McFarland who entertained us with selections of his Flash
Fiction. Next week on February 27th we have a members-only book sale
preview, a first, followed by our annual book sale on February 28th at
Eastside Marketplace. It's not too late to donate those books that are
cluttering your shelves. Drop them by the library. By the way, we still have
one room left for our Mexico trip over spring break. As a point of
clarification, we have an opening on the Friends of the Library Board, not
the Library Board, and, the board members meet the second Thursday of the
month, not the members. Thank you for your exposure of a very worthwhile
organization. I hope your readers will respond by joining us in helping our
fine library, which helps the community as a whole.

Sincerely,

Tim Hillebrand
President
