I was surprised, to say the least, that lack of funding for a swimming =
pool is the result of a failed community (economic) development program. =
Joan Berney's comments suggest that we should be recruiting "big =
industry" into Moscow so we could have corporate sponsors for community =
development. While corporate sponsorship would be helpful, are the =
citizens of Moscow ready to trade that sponsorship for the impact that =
"big industry" type economic development brings to a community? I =
certainly have not seen support for that kind of economic development. =
I also think that the Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development =
Council have exceptional track records for economic development that is =
appropriate for Moscow. The Chamber's recognition of over 35 Moscow =
businesses that have been in operation for 50 years or more and EDC =
sponsored activities such as Alturas Technology Park are just two =
examples.

Regarding the comment that "there is nothing here"....... I'm =
speechless.

If other Vision 2020 subscribers agree with Joan's assessment of =
community and economic development in Moscow, I would appreciate the =
input. Our role is to implement programs that benefit the community. =
If we're not doing that, we need to know.
